Naruto

Masashi Kishimoto is the master behind Naruto. This man's imagination is incredible. I admire him greatly - and wish that he would blog somewhere. But most likely he has no time, considering he's turning out 16-19 pages of Naruto a week. No, we must leave him be!  I make do with the little blogs he does in the published manga volumes that he does.  And hope nothing awful happens to him before he finishes.

This manga has been going since 1999, and is still going, and it doesn't look like it will be slowing up yet.
This story has been tracking the life of Naruto, since he was 10 years old, and he is now 16 (and I look forward to seeing him at later ages) as he chases his dream of becoming Hokage; the top Ninja in Konohamuru, the Leaf Village. A challenging endeavour considering he has the 9 Nine tail fox Demon inside him, and has been treated like an unwanted outcast during his lonely childhood.

There is so much to like about this story. The great amount of story threads running through it, the backstory/history which has a life of it's own, the multilayered characters (each with their own backstories) unique characters with relatable personalities, the humour! and the tragedy (for which there seems an abundance) the noble themes (accessible and applicable to readers own lives)  the character growth and progression toward changing themselves and their world -- real villains who are 'people' /relatable - and who have the chance of making good, if that be their choice. And everyone seems to get a choice of some description.

All the fast paced action and tension --  and the great art! A story that I have shed tears over, and has nearly killed me  ie psuedo death of Kakashi

The anime (thankgoodness!!) is spot on with the manga. It adds voice and more depth to the characters, and at times shows what has happened in the manga that I find difficult to see  ie action scenes -- although that could be just me...
The fillers do not detract from the story (I'm so glad) and can be ignored if you wish. I don't care how long they have to take with fillers (although I don't know why they can't just stop the anime for a time??)  as long as they keep to the manga story!
