Midori no Hibi

I adore this story!  Created by Kazurou Inoue

I raced through this manga. It's such a change from what I normally read. It's a real teenage love story, except it's paranormal - but hey, what's wrong with that!  When I first heard it was a story about a girl on this guy's right hand, I thought... right - that's weird.

Seiji Sawamura, the 'Devil's Right Hand' is a rebel and a brawler, and hasn't a good name for himself. He's not respected by his peers nor does he have alot of friends. Because of this he's not a friendly guy himself, in fact he has a mean streak. Despite his behaviour all he really wants is a girlfriend - he has faced many rejections.
Little does Seiji know that the 16 year old Midori has been watching him for years from the shadows. She is too shy to ever confess her love for him. Her family is wealthy and she goes to a top girl's school but she sees the good in Seiji even though no one else does.
Somehow Midori ends up as Seiji's right hand. Initially it is hard for both of them, but they grow on each other!

The creator has captured the heart of teenage love -- the shyness, the embarrasement, the first confession - that fear, and that thrill of first love. These two characters are charming together - they bug each other, yet depend on each other. It's a wonderful balance of tension that leads them on this journey to finding each other as individuals that are separate from just being a hand or someone to rely on.

Great supporting characters too! And even a love triangle as Seiji's classmate, Ayase falls in love with Seiji and tries to seduce him, in a real teenage way - by not letting him know that she likes him. lol. of course there's the mad gang leader, Rin, Seiji's older sister, who taught Seiji how to fight. Even Midori has her own admirer - the geeky doll collector.
And alot of the time it's just soo funny!
Fantastic art! Characters that look their age - that really appeals to me.
